Reiki and Sport Reiki (pronounced ray-key) means Life Force Energy. It is thousands of years old and is practiced by thousands of people all over the world. It is an absolutely safe and very powerful way of healing. Reiki is a system which uses energy to bring all parts of the body and mind into harmony so that they can work together to heal. The energy which is all around us is channelled by the Reiki practitioner into the person by placing their hands on or near the body in different positions.
There are two main areas where Reiki can bring benefits to the sporting arena:
Physical Reiki supports the body’s natural healing process, resulting in faster recovery time following injury. Also faster recovery from inflammation in muscles following intensive training. It may also help old injuries to heal. Reiki also supports the body’s immune system reducing the effects of allergies and viruses. Psychological Reiki calms the mind and relaxes the body. A calm mind leads to a focused performance both in training and competition.
